Gaming Last Night
Well, last night's game of a|state never happened, as we did not have enough players. So Jon cajolled us to play Carcassonne and Red Empire, which was fun. Jon's aim was to not get beaten at either, especially Carcassonne, at which I thrashed him last time around.
So Jon tried to beat me at Carcassonne and forgot about
lulucthulhu. She raced away, whilst he concentrated on building the largest city possible -- and I tried to stop him, whilst also looking for good scores, picking them up slowly along the way. Unfortunately, it came down to a single tile. A full city tile. Had that appeared, I would have had more than meeple in the city, gained the points and won the game. As it was, it was a draw between
lulucthulhu and myself.
It is a long time since we played a three-handed game of Red Empire, and from the start,
lulucthulhu had the biggest advantage with the best mix of faction members. Jon tried to defend his faction with as many "Hero of Soviet Union" cards as possible, and we were able to deal with most of the crisis as they came up. I brought her faction down when Jon's faction went on a Foreign Junket and together we could not deal with a big crisis. Assuming the Presidency, I managed to deal with the next, then survived another with a Treaty card, but was denounced and taken out to be shot... By
lulucthulhu, of course. She also won.
