Serenity RPG Website Update!
Yes, an actual update.
Which in the main consists of an index you can download.
Plus some news of forthcoming products -- including the fourth printing of the core rulebook which will include said index and character sheet.

WARNING: RANT AHEAD

This raises several points...

You might well decide to put this free downloadable index on the Bonus page.
It is not a fucking bonus!
It is integral to the book.
Not a fucking bonus.
A rulebook needs an index because it is a reference book.
Not a fucking bonus.

You put out an edition of the book with all of these bonuses absent. That is, no character sheet. No index. No example of character genenration. No example of character, vehicle, or star ship combat. These are not fucking bonuses.

So you put out an incomplete book. Which everyone bought.
What do I have to do in order to get a complete book, the one that should have been released in the first place?
Buy a whole new book.
I do not want to be given bonuses to complete my book.
I want a complete book in the first place, not be forced to buy it all over again to get the book I should have been able to get.

Personally I should not be giving you more money to do this.
You should be giving me the book for free because I already paid for it.

All right. Small points in a big universe.
But...
Fuck you and fuck your bonus.

Hm, seems to confirm my initial impression when I had a quick browse: Shiny and meaty but not very usable.

Why does this particular book, license, and/or company irk you so? Not the details (index, releases, etc). Why are your expectations so high for the Serenity RPG?

They really have embarrassed themselves with this, haven't they?

What am I missing? They've done four printings, and they sold 500+ copies at Gen Con. There were things I would have done differently, but... meh. Why obsess over a game you don't like?

Me? I'm not obsessing. I just think they've done a poor job with the core book and its support.

Granted. But Mr. Pook's has posted here about it at least a couple of times (maybe more). I'm curious why he cares so much about -this- game.

And so they've done a bad job, so what? They got the book out in time for the movie. Aside from Eden, who's done a good job of writing and supporting media-tie-ins since GOO went under?

Yet it will still win an Origin award ...
